Description
The ARG Air Relief Assembly ARHDEX2 is designed as a direct replacement for Hayward’s DEX2420MAR2 air relief and gauge combo. Over time, the original assembly can leak around the stem, let air build up in the filter, or lose its gauge accuracy as the lens fogs and water creeps in. When that happens, you lose both a safe way to purge air and a reliable way to see what the filter is doing.
Installing ARHDEX2 replaces the whole top assembly in one step. You regain a working manual vent at the filter’s air-relief port and a readable pressure gauge right next to it. Open the valve at startup until water runs solid, close it, and then watch the gauge for your normal clean and dirty pressure readings. It’s a simple way to get your filter back to predictable, safe operation without a full equipment overhaul.
Pro Tip
Plan to replace the air relief assembly whenever you do a major filter service and the gauge is fogged or the vent feels stiff. It’s much easier to swap the top while the system is already down than to come back later chasing a slow leak or air problem. Always shut off the pump and relieve pressure before removing any part from the filter tank.
