Description
The ARG ARHDEX2LG Air Relief Assy is aimed at Hayward-style filters that call out DEX2420MAR2 but don’t actually need a new gauge. Over time, the original vent body can crack, leak, or seize up even while the pressure gauge still reads fine. Instead of buying a full vent-and-gauge combo, this “less gauge” assembly lets you replace just the vent portion and keep the gauge you trust.
It threads into (or mounts on) the same top air-relief port as the original DEX2420MAR2 body and restores a predictable manual bleed at the top of the tank. Open it when you start the pump to vent air until the stream runs solid, close it, and your filter can run without an air pocket bouncing inside. Pair it with a good gauge and you’ve effectively rebuilt the filter top without over-buying parts.
Pro Tip
Look at the gauge before you decide between ARHDEX2LG and a full assembly. If the lens is clear and the needle responds normally, the less-gauge option makes sense. If the gauge is fogged, full of water, or stuck, use the full ARHDEX2 kit and replace both the vent and gauge at the same time. Always fully depressurize the filter before you touch the air relief.
